To develop and coordinate the After School Adventures Program, a day camp program for student holidays and a summer day camp that will provide a quality child-care and ministry experiences.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop programs for varying age groups.
Recruit, hire and supervise all After School Adventures and Day Camp staff.
Assure safety and accountability of children on camp property.
Ensure communication with children and their parents to assess their interests and needs.
Develop procedures and policies for operation of the After School Adventures program.
Implement and reinforce code of conduct with staff, students and parents.
Maintain comprehensive records on all operational aspects of the programs.
Facilitate relationships with local schools and local churches to become a partner with their existing programs and ministries.
Develop and track budget.
Help in marketing and promoting the program.
Hold vision and responsibility for recreation development including but not limited to:
archery, sports development, aquatics and facilities/equipment development.
Inventory and restock recreation boxes (year-round and summer).
Be part of the onsite On-Call Host rotation.
Assist the Program Coordinator as needed with programs, planning, implementation and execution.
Be willing to be utilized in other areas, as needed, depending on camp season.
Qualifications:
Ability to thrive in a Christian setting.
Supervisory experience required, including staff and volunteer management and coordination.
Experience in working with pre-school to elementary-age children.
Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to people of all ages and comprehension.
Ability to provide first aid and to assist campers and staff in an emergency.
Guest oriented, energetic personality.
Self-motivated, honest, and dependable.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule including holidays.
Driver's license required with willingness to get CDL Class B Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Visual and verbal ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the facilities including camper and staff behavior.
Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more).
Able to successfully pass a Criminal Background screen and Motor Vehicle Records check.
Understand, adhere to and enforce the UM Conference Child/Youth Protection policy.
